Anything can happen in Omaha

This summer, Tuo was hired by one of the nation’s oldest independent real estate brokerages, based in Omaha, Nebraska, to produce an anthemic video that would unveil the entrepreneurial and collaborative spirit hidden beneath an all-too-familiar corporate façade.

Video is a medium that requires meticulous and exhaustive planning to ensure that time on location runs smoothly. Yet, it is contrasted by the need to arrive on set ready to improvise when the inevitable curveballs are thrown. Creating this type of content under such conditions demands a creative team that is nimble, supportive, and, above all, positive. As a Creative Director, I’ve spent years honing this often overlooked but essential ingredient for strong and successful creative output.

I’ll admit, there are many factors beyond our control: client dynamics, budget limitations, time constraints. But the one thing we can control is how we, as a creative team, show up for each other and the work.

Shooting video on location is framed by incredibly early mornings, long, exhausting days, and late evenings. Showing up under these conditions requires a full tank of creative passion, fueled by a love for what we do and knowing the effort will profoundly benefit the business we are creating for.

Creative Direction takes many forms, but one thing I believe it must always shape is the attitude and spirit of both the team responsible for the work and the team receiving it. There is joy to be found in the process, as long as we remember to look for it.
